Purpose:
To provide high school students an opportunity to serve in their community and strengthen their experience and organizational skills in a particular field.
We are seeking students who:
- Are energetic;
- Are reliable and responsible;
- Are looking for great learning opportunities;
- Want a sound, positive experience to add to a résumé;
- Want to be active in their community;
- Welcome diversity; and
- Possibly need community service hours.
The group offers members opportunities for self-development, the ability to choose activities that will address their community’s needs and the potential for leadership responsibilities on the youth group board.
Those who volunteer as youth are more likely to continue volunteerism throughout adulthood.
How To Get Started:
Go to the “How To Join” page http://www.arcglendale.org/show.aspx?mi=3274 to print a youth application, or pick one up during business hours at 1501 S. Brand.
Meetings are usually held from September through June once every two weeks at the chapter headquarters at 1501 S. Brand Boulevard. Members also serve at community events throughout the year. Our chapter’s youth group currently includes students from Hoover High, Glendale High, Crescenta Valley High and other nearby high schools.
Individual Volunteering:
We recommend that high school students volunteer through our youth group, but if you prefer to volunteer as an individual, start by registering in our regular adult General Volunteer Orientation class. Register online at http://www.arcglendale.org/Education/course.aspx?c=4568 or by calling 818-243-3121 ext. 110.
